Blast from the past by Rennon-the-Shaved Blast from the past by Rennon-the-Shaved
Today I went to a small Civil War re-enactment camp and historical marker dedication in Napoleon, Ohio. Camp Latty was a Union enlistment and training camp located along the bank of the Maumee River.

A new recruit shoots his rifle over the river. You can see little bits of the disintegrated paper blank round, which flew right at me. I love that black powder smell.

He's got an Enfield... Those things are fun to fire either blank or live. Some times I load a round up in mine on New Years Eve and pop it off at midnite.

BTW this looks like he might be the Captain, f I see those shoulder boards right.

Ohio contributed a lot of volunteer regiments during the war. Only NY and Pennsylvania contributed more recruits.
