I still can't believe this really happened... Napoleon Dynamite is one the stupidest movies I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. Back in high school when it came out, the other kids were incessantly quoting this piece of garbage for months. And now, NOW, eight years later, they decide to make a cartoon sitcom out of this rubbish?! What were they thinking?! To paraphrase Ian Malcolm, "This is one of the worst ideas in the long, sad history of bad ideas."

This is the longest I've gone without doing a story arc for the comic: 31 strips over six months. The vast majority of my ideas come to me as individual, random strips; like what I've made since comic 200. It's quite refreshing to be able to do whatever I want and not be tied down to a storyline. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just good to have the opportunity to go wherever I want as an artist. The next comic, though, will start a new storyline that has some interesting potential for a few characters...

For once I am going to disagree with you.  Napoleon Dynamite was really a movie about how Strange People don't know their strange, and maybe it was really made for strange people.  The only travesty I see with that movie, is it became popular and everyone was expected to see it, even if they didn't really understand it.  I think really because the critics absolutely loved the part where Napoleon does a Dance to support his Mexican Immigrant friend Pedro so he can win his bid for class president against the popular kids.  Hollywood can't help but love a movie where the underdog wins.

However if this not your favorite movie, I understand.  I grew up in a strange family where I had a mother with Schizophrenia; a father, brother, and an eldest sister I now realize all had Aspergers, and a Bipolar older sister.  And I was the weird one in the family, so I identify with Napoleon Dynamite way more than you do.

And by the way, this is the first I have heard of this animated series, so I guess it wasn't that popular anyways.
